There did not seem many woodland birds about, until I came across various species mobbing a Tawny Owl by the brook at the top end. Most of the commoner woodland species were joined by a Great Spotted Woodpecker. The same area had a couple of Buzzards, one flying over and one being mobbed by a Crow. Great Spotted Woodpeckers were also seen in two other areas this morning.
After finishing checking the reservoir I headed up Embankment Road. Two Mistle Thrushes were on the field by the road, a Buzzard circled above, and a Raven was being mobbed by a Lesser Black-backed Gull. The Raven was seen again a few minutes later flying low across Greens Arms Road. When I got to the Chetham Arms the Buzzard & the Raven could be heard flying around together somewhere up above the pub.
