10.15 - 11.30 Very cold and windy - not surprised there have been no reports since last July
Mallard: 2 pairs Lapwing: 7 or 8 pairs in fields (some display) Snipe: 2 (one flushed, another chipping away in the juncus) Curlew: 2 or 3 pairs Meadow Pipit Pied Wagtail Red Grouse Skylark: at least 4 on the moor edge (one even managed a short song flight)

on surrounding in-bye fields: 2 Raven, one carrying an egg in its beak chased by a Lapwing. Curlew, Lapwing, 2 Snipe, pair Common Sandpiper, Golden Plover, Swallows and Swifts .
on neighbouring moorland: more Lapwing and Curlew, pair Redshank, Red Grouse + plenty singing Skylarks.

Nothing on the reservoir but at least 12 Lapwing and 2 Curlew in adjoining fields. Low-key display from both species.
Walked across the moor to Little Black Moss Resr (3 Canada Geese, in Gtr. Manchester) and Black Moss Resr (pair of Goldeneye, in Yorks). Walked back to Brun Clough on the Pennine Way and didn't see or hear a single bird!

Rough-legged Buzzard very distantly at 1140 with Comon Buzzard high over Featherbed Moss at 1140hrs then drifted NE into West Yorkshire.
