Pintail male, initially by railway bridge over the Irwell just south of burrs halt. Then relocated to stretch of canal by the duck/ fishing pond, happily being fed alongside a host of mallard.

Bullfinch and greenfinch numbers good and very active.
tit flock ( blue, long tailed, great & coal ) also very active.
kestrel not active at all ,not even when the train passed.
20 x fieldfares over & 6x cormorants in formation.
highlight! A jack snipe on the footpath by the railway. It let 2x spaniels right past it before darting out next to my foot.

Family groups of blackcap, magpie, carrion crow & mallard. Willow warblers, long tailed tits & wren all active and calling.
onthe river, a family group of grey wagtails & dippers together (by accident probably). There was also a young dipper on its own, flipping stones over in the shallows by the railway bridge.
By the weir were two young herons , and by spring side farm a young buzzard calling from the trees.

East side of the railway line (not strictly the park but more burrs than Walmersley )
By the side of the railway, near the cutting (waiting to watch the train). 2x whitethroat across the tracks near the caravans, a lesser whitethroat singing(and rasping) from inside the cutting. And a wood warbler flew into the bush next to me , 20 secs and flew off into the cutting. Couldn't follow it , £1000 fine to much even for a wood warbler and 80097 + seven coaches was a major deterrent!

3 lapwing this morning, one was flying around, calling(peewit), and fighting off 2 jackdaw in flight.
5 pied wagtails.
No winter thrushes at all.
3 mistle thrush.
On river Saturday 24/2.
Glimpse of a kingfisher north of the weir (spotted last 2 days).
Dipper in the rapids near railway bridge(spotted most days)
Heronry at dusk, 12 herons seemed to be sat on nests, with other herons perched around.

Once you have climbed the small hill behind the caravan park, look towards 325°NNW to see the nesting herons.
Today there were 7 nests occupied, presumably with eggs being incubated, with other herons sat or flying around.

From yesterday walk from Burrs to Summerseat over to Greenmount and back down the Kirklees Trail. Lot of people out throwing things for dog, and the dogs themselves, into the River Irwell and various lodges. In some cases this was accompanied by a fast waving of arms and loud shouts of 'here fido.' The result was that most birds had decamped from Burrs and the lodges of the Kirklees.
Nonetheless between Burrs and Summerseat Two Kingfisher flying south and north out of Burrs. towards Summerseat Two Nuthatch, two pairs of Goosander, Chiffchaff, Dipper, Lapwing, Curlew, Singing Goldcrest, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Pheasant,

Yesterday at dusk
1 Kingfisher(at last) flew upstream and landed on the tree which is in the river just above the weir.
It stayed perched long enough for me to id as a male.(black lower mandible) But sadly no camera.
2 goosander(m & f) upstream of weir.

150+ jackdaw flying noisily south.
